ONLINE PATENTS FOR small business,
startups, and individuals

It may sound odd, but most patent applicants are not inventors. Rather, most patent applications are filed by large corporations. The USPTO categorizes applicant size as undiscounted, small, and micro. Most of my clients are individual inventors and small startups that are micro entities.

To qualify as micro, the applicants must earn below ~$190,000 per year and have under four patent applications. If you exceed either of those thresholds, but have fewer than 500 employees, you are a “small” entity. If you have over 500 employees, you are “undiscounted.”

7 in 10 patent applicants have over 500 employees

and amazingly

Under 1 in 23 US patent applicants are micro entities*

  • USPTO FY2019 utility applications by entity type: micro 4.22%; small 25.82%, undiscounted 69.97%.*

In other words, inventors are actually a special type of client. We specialize in empowering inventors in a system that is not designed for them.

FIRST IN ONLINE PATENT LAW™

Alloy Patent Law is a firm like no other. We built the first truly online patent firm, and we are completely different than any firm you have ever encountered.

You will speak with an attorney who will listen carefully about your invention and answer your questions in a straightforward, understandable way.

Risk free?
It’s simple- we love our clients, and we treat them like it. Did you sign up for the wrong service, or for a service that you really don’t need at all? Let us know, and we will solve the problem. We maintain a spotless track record. Why? Because our clients love us back.

Testimonials

Real People. Real Stories.

Walker is extremely easy to work with! Very attentive and responsive to questions I had regarding the patent application process. The long process has just begun and he has been 10/10 thus far. Excited to continue working with him!

Tony Carter

Walker is easy to work with, very accessible. He doesn't nickle and dime you for every 5 minutes of his time like other attorneys do. He delivers what he promisses. Man of his word. Thank you Walker.

Walker at Alloy Law has helped me on multiple projects over the last few years, from trademark filings to utility & design patents. He is honest, affordable, extremely knowledgeable & very quick to respond. It is important as my business grows to have a reliable & trustworthy attorney to work with, someone who I can depend on to provide sound advice & guidance. Walker has delivered on all fronts! I am very pleased with my experience with Alloy Law & will continue to consult with them as my business grows.

Jillian DeMichael

I wish Walker Weitzel at Alloy was around when I first applied for a patent. He is very knowledgeable and charges less than others in the larger law firms. I wanted a second opinion on enforcing a patent I have. He pointed out a couple things my more expensive lawyer missed and saved me a lot of money in the long run. I will be using Alloy again.I'm writing this review because as a small Business owner myself, I like to see other small businesses succeed.

EXPERIENCE MATTERS

Walker Weitzel

Founder and Principal of Alloy Patent Law, LLC

I founded Alloy Patent Law in 2014 with the core mission of improving inventor access to patent protection. While the firm has grown dramatically over the years, the mission has not changed. We are here for the inventors. Accessible quality representation - that’s all we do.

Patent preparation and prosecution is my entire legal practice. I work with every client one-on-one from the outset. Once I understand your invention and the specifics of your case, we go to work.
